For a while now, I've dabbled in photoelasticity - capturing plastic materials against a background of polarised light through a polarising lens, creating a psychedelic colour effect on the object. I enjoy the abstract and textural qualities to the resulting images - it's taking an everyday item and making it look alien. Since we were tasked to create a moving image piece emphasising its own digital materiality, I've been stumped on a response, until now. Here are some experimental stills I've taken & edited (mainly with curves in a solarisation fashion) which I used as references for this project:
